NZ cat survives crossbow shooting

A NEW Zealand cat has survived being shot through the skull with a crossbow.
The New Zealand pet cat has had an "extraordinarily lucky" escape from death after he was shot in the head by a crossbow.
The crossbow bolt went straight through Moo Moo's skull, entering just above his eye but missing all brain tissue.
The four-year-old local of Wainuiomata, a town near Wellington in the North Island, underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove the bolt and is now on the road the recovery.
Massey Veterinary Teaching Hospital says Moo Moo shouldn't suffer any long term effects and is "bright and happy" following surgery.
"There was a little bit of injury to his nose and eye socket, but he's an extraordinarily lucky cat," vet surgeon Dr Jonathan Bray said.
"The velocity of the bolt hitting him would have been quite frightening, so he's very brave."
Moo Moo's owner, Donna Ferrari, noticed what she thought was an arrow through his head on Monday afternoon.
The scared cat was hiding in bushes and wouldn't come out, but eventually Ms Ferrari was able to pick him up and take him to the local vet.
"They said they've never seen anything like it," Ms Ferrari said.
The vet called Massey Teaching Hospital and Moo Moo was sent there for treatment.
"I'm sick to my stomach," Ms Ferrari said.
"Hopefully the person responsible is caught or feels so much hatred from the community that they never do anything like it again."
